Acer palmatum "Inaba-shidare"
NewAcer palmatum 'Inaba-shidare' is an award-winning small garden tree with filigree-like purple foliage that emerges striking red. In autumn the feathery leaves turn vivid scarlet red for a vibrant display. Growing to roughly 3 x 3 metres in 20 years, it forms an upright mound of colour, rather than the lower growing form of many weeping Japanese Maples. Ideal as a focal point in a small garden, Acer palmatum 'Inaba-shidare' can also be pot grown and makes a great patio tree. As with all Japanese maple trees, this purple leafed variety prefers a slightly sheltered position avoiding full, south facing sun where possible.
