Skimmia japonica "Rubesta Cuba"
Skimmia japonica "Rubesta Cuba"
Skimmia are evergreen shrubs that add interest to the garden all year round. From August onwards "Rubesta Cuba" produces attractive spikes of red and green flower buds and these buds remain throughout the autumn and winter until they open up into scented white flowers in spring that are loved by bees. This variety has a longer flowering period compared to other skimmia. Skimmia need acidic soil so they should be planted with ericaceous compost and fed with ericaceous plant food from March-October to ensure they keep their rich green leaves.
