Cornus officinalis 'Robin's Pride'
Japanese Cornelian Cherry is a large, deciduous shrub or tree up to 5 m high and up to 4 m wide. Middle-growing. The crown is dense, oval. It blooms in February - March. The flowers bloom before the leaves and form umbrellas, which are grouped on the tip of the branches and have bracts in the form of buds. The flowers are golden yellow. Fruits are ellipsoid drupes, scarlet, edible, although slightly acidic. Ripen in September - October. A full sun lover, but can also grow in partial shade. It prefers moist, well-drained and acidic soils. Frost –hardy.
