Royal Purple Smoketree is perennial, ornamental, deciduous shrub or small tree 1.5 m in height and 1.5 m in width. Fast growing. The crown is spreading of irregular spherical shape. When grinding the leaves specific tart smell is felt. The flowers are small, pinkish, in paniculate inflorescences. Fruits are dry drupes on long stalks, greenish. During ripening they turn brown. Ripen in August-September. Smoke tree must be planted in the places protected from the wind. A full sun lover. It is undemanding to the soil, but prefers neutral soils with a sufficient amount of lime. Drought tolerant. Low frost -hardy.
