Sawara Cypress "Hime-Sawara"
Chamaecyparis pisifera ‘Hime-sawara’
Savara cypress is a spherical shrub with a very dense crown and soft, slightly prickly, scaly needles. It grows very slowly, 2-3 cm per year. In adulthood, it reaches a height of 70 cm, while the crown can grow to a width of 90 cm, acquiring the shape of a pillow. The shoots are thin and elastic, flattened, densely arranged. In spring and summer the needles are equally green, in winter they turn bronze.
It grows in the sun and partial shade. Prefers light, moist, moderately nutritious soil. Frost-hardy.
