Chilean Pine
Araucaria araucana
Chilean pine or Araucaria is an evergreen coniferous tree reaching a height of 60 m. The crown of young ornamental trees is broadly pyramidal. The bark is resinous, thick, longitudinally fractured. Chilean pine branches are covered with prickly leaves of a leathery structure. The leaves are stiff, dark green, spirally arranged.
Pine is full sun lover, grows in humid climates, on uniformly moist, not waterlogged, sufficiently nutrient-rich soils. It tolerates dry conditions well, as well as slight frosts.
