Autumn Moon Maple
Acer shirasawanum 'Autumn Moon'
Shirasawa Maple is a bushy tree or large shrub of upright habit noted for its beautiful summer and fall foliage. Emerging clear yellow or chartreuse in spring, the rounded, palmate leaves, adorned with 9-11 lobes, are tinged with an unusual burnt-orange color. These colors are strongest in full sun or very light shade. In autumn, they turn rich shades of orange and red. Small cream and pink flowers born in upright clusters, appear in spring and give way to samaras which contrast nicely with the foliage, adding decorative interest to the display.
A full sun or part shade lover. This plant is easily grown in moist, organically rich, well drained soils.
This slow growing unique maple caltivar is perfect for small gardens or containers.
