Teutonia Chinese Dogwood
Cornus kousa 'Teutonia'
Teutonia is a small to medium-sized, rather slow-growing, deciduous tree reaching a height of up to 3 m. The ovate leaves are deep green, and turn shades of red and purple in autumn. Blooms in June. It has small white flowers that later become mottled light pink. These are followed by small red fruits, 3 cm in diameter, that resemble strawberries. They are not edible.
A full sun lover. It prefers fertile soils, and does not tolerate soil liming and stagnation of water. Frost-hardy.
