Davidia is a deciduous tree. The height of plant reaches up to 20 m . Annual growth is 20-25 cm. The young crown is symmetrical, broadly pyramidal, with age more rounded, loose. The bark is dark gray, smooth. The shoots are thick, green, later gray or dark gray. The leaves are alternate, broadly ovate. The white flowers have two large leaves. The fruits are pear-shaped, green with a purple tinge, outwardly resembling a walnut.
Full sun lover. Prefers not too dry soils. Does not tolerate waterlogging. Frost-hardy.
