Acer palmatum 'Atropurpureum'
Acer palmatum 'Atropurpureum'
Acer palmatum 'Atropurpureum' is a wonderful Japanese maple that has elegant deep-leaved, purple foliage throughout the spring and summer. In autumn, the foliage turns bright crimson red, creating a wonderful seasonal canvas. It becomes a beautiful little tree, the deepest purple color is obtained in the area with more light, while the foliage will be greener in low light areas.
For best results, Acer palmatum "Atropurpureum" should be grown in moist but well-drained soil in partial shade. Strong winds are not desirable, as they can cause the leaves to burn.
