NewRed Column Scarlet Firethorn is an evergreen shrub with a wide spreading crown. The height of a plant is 2 m. The lower branches often creep along the ground. The leaves are oblong-elliptical or lanceolate, up to 4 cm long, leathery, shiny, dark green. They are bright red in autumn. Small white or pinkish-yellow flowers give a special charm to the bush in spring. The fruits are spherical, up to 0.6 cm in diameter, coral-red. They persist all winter.
It grows well in partial shade and on light fertile, slightly acidic soils. Frost-hardy.
