


Winterberry
Ilex verticillata
Winterberry is an ornamental, deciduous shrub. The height reaches up to 3 m. The leaves are ovate, pointed at the tips, 5–10 cm long, serrated, bright green. The flowers are small, white, numerous, appear in June. The fruits are spherical, 4–5 mm in diameter, coral red. It is abundantly strewn with red fruits in winter.
It is undemanding to soils, but prefers moist and slightly acidic soils. The plant can grow in sun or in partial shade. Frost-resistant.
