Amelanchier alnifolia 'Obelisk' is small upright tree or shrub with narrow, compact crown 3-5 m in height and 1.2-1.5 m in spread. The leaves are elliptical, nearly rounded. At blooming it is a reddish or copper shade, turning to green then orange-yellow or purple color in autumn. The plant blooms in the end of April - beginning of May with white star-shaped flowers collected in racemes inflorescences. Fruits are purple-black, rounded with bluish bloom, edible, ripen in August. The pulp is juicy, scarlet.
Prefers sunny or slightly shaded areas. It blooms more abundantly in the light. Prefers any fertile well-drained soil. Enough frost-hardy.
